“This class was fantastic! I was nervous about the 4 hours but completed it in sections and was glad I did. I have some experience drawing people but difficulty drawing different poses and how exactly to start. The class was organized well, easy to follow and I loved drawing all the different poses and variations. I liked how the flour bag example really simplified thinking about & drawing movement. Highly recommend!!”

Get comfortable and confident when drawing character poses and gestures.
Hey there!
Do you ever feel like your character poses could use a boost? Maybe you’re searching for fresh ideas to elevate your character designs to the next level. Well, look no further because this class is made for you!
Why Should You Learn from Me?
After teaching my stylized character design class, many of you expressed a desire to go deeper into character design with me. So, in this class, we’re taking it up a notch! I’ll guide you on a journey to put life, expressiveness, and dynamism into your characters using simple shapes and the art of posing and gesturing.
Character design finds its application in various art forms, from feature films, TV animations, and video games to comic books, children’s books, and corporate visuals.
When I started my journey in illustration, I was captivated by the allure of drawing characters. However, I faced the challenge of making them truly come alive. Through attending live drawing sessions and mastering core concepts of dynamic character design, I overcame the frustration and breathed life into my characters. And now, I want to share those skills with you in this class.
What Will You Learn?
By using basic shapes, we’ll create delightful characters with unique stories. You’ll learn essential concepts that will transform your characters into lively and expressive beings. By the end of this class, you’ll get a solid skill set to develop your character designs and style further.
This class is packed with valuable content, but don’t worry! Just like my previous classes, I’ve designed it to be easy to follow and revisit whenever you need a refresher.
We’ll cover a range of topics, such as the brushes I often use for my illustrations, using stick figures to sketch poses, employing simple shapes for quick body sketches, applying proportions to make your characters believable, leveraging spine and weight to add dynamism, incorporating basic perspective for depth, and drawing inspiration from real-life references for your character designs.
We’ll also explore the importance of gestures and body language, empowering you to create characters who exude confidence, shyness, happiness, and elegance. I’ll showcase various coloring and finishing styles to inspire you.
