“This has been an exciting lesson in learning how to plan from sketching up, to decide on a color palette, to paint on the iPad (Procreate) with precise yet artistic paint application, and all within the subtle and enchanting illustrative style that Iva so artfully demonstrates. Thanks Iva, for embracing your students in such a warm and inviting way, and showing us your magical talents!”

Become more confident when presenting yourself as a professional illustrator delivering illustrations your clients will love.

Hey there!

I’m thrilled to have you in this class, where I’ll be sharing my process for creating illustrations for clients.

My goal is to help you gain confidence in presenting yourself as a professional illustrator and delivering artwork that your clients will absolutely love.

Why Should You Learn from Me?

Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with clients both as a freelancer and in-house artist. During my time at Lego, I was part of a team involved in planning and executing large-scale creative projects. I wrote briefs, managed projects, and provided feedback to freelancers. Additionally, as an in-house illustrator, I worked on concept illustrations, storyboards, color scripts, and character designs. I’ve also freelanced for local and international companies like Procter and Gamble, working on creative briefs for brands such as Ariel and Vela. My experience extends to advertising concepts, commercial illustrations, and packaging design.

What Will You Learn?

In this class, I want to share everything I’ve learned with you, so you can build confidence in working with clients, communicate professionally, and develop your own illustration process. I’ll guide you through each step, from understanding the client brief and budgeting to brainstorming ideas, creating the final artwork, and presenting it to clients. We’ll discuss the elements of a strong composition, how to test colors that work harmoniously, and even how to develop your own illustration series.

This class is primarily aimed at beginner artists and illustrators who are curious about working with clients or are just starting out on their first client projects. I’ll provide you with valuable information on what questions to ask and how to effectively communicate with clients. The more you know, the more professional you’ll appear, increasing your chances of securing the job.

Grab Your Gear

While I’ll be using Procreate throughout the class, feel free to use any other digital drawing software you’re comfortable with. Towards the end, I’ll also demonstrate how to apply your artwork to mockups using Photoshop, which can be a great way to present your work in a portfolio.

Working with clients can be an exciting journey, whether you’re a beginner exploring the world of commercial illustration or a more experienced artist curious about another illustrator’s process. This class is designed to empower you, so let’s dive in and start creating those awesome illustrations together!
